Celebrity Style- the Essential Knit

As we turn the corner into Autumn and Winter it's time to start pulling out your woolies and taking stock of your wardrobe. For me there are a few essentials items I like to update each year, one of the most crucial being the statement knit. Comfy, cosy, casual, chunky, chic and practical! Check out these celebs in their favourites...

Rachel Bilson rocks a casual street look in a classic crew neck with statement jeans and stomper boots. Copy her look with this smooth knit from Tooralie (TOOR108 $151.95)...

Model mum Natalia Vodianova with her children in a black and tan stripe knit. Stripes and knits go hand in hand for an on trend statement any season. Make a geometric statement in this Cogan Sweater from Toorallie (TOOR388 $206.95).

Katherine Heigl stays cosy in a classic cable knit in a flattering coffee colour. Loving the Bridge and Lord cashmere/wool blend grey (FIE2631 $151.95)!

Love, love Nicole Ritchie in this Proenza Schouler Tiger Knit in funky spearmint! This wool blend bright animal scarf  (DLUX71621 $92.95) is the perfect pick me up for a winter palette.

Winter Trend- the Bow Blouse

For a few seasons now I have been happily living in my favourite skinny jeans, biker boots and oversized tees under a structure blazer. I love the look and feel super comfortable and confident in it. This coming from the girl who can't stop buying little dresses for her daughter! And I adore her in them! So why can't I get the same enjoyment from wearing a dress on a daily basis?
This winter I've  decided to embrace my feminine side and fill my wardrobe with all things girly- skirts, velvet, silky dresses and flowing blouses.
After doing a bit of browsing I've decided on my favourite look- the ultra chic and feminine Pussy Bow Blouse. A little bit demure when worn with a firm bow at the neck or uber sexy when left open and draped for an easy evening look...

I love the contrast in texture here as Nicole teams her blouse with a fitted leather jacket.

Hair long and loose- the perfect way to counteract the high neck bow as seen on Sharon Stone and Madonna.

My favourite outfit! Olivia Palermo nails it with sexy leather shorts and leopard print pumps. Her choice of breezy white looks classy and effortless.

So where can I get my hands on the perfect Bow Blouse? Mela Purdie has delivered once again! Their range of blouses in stunningly soft Technical Polyester behaves and looks exactly like a silk Charmeuse whilst remaining easy care. And their winter colour range is just divine, I'm thinking the Emerald and the Grape are both essentials...

And the best thing about these gorgeous shirts? I can still wear them with my skinny jeans and biker boots under my favourite blazer!

Kate Middleton- 30 and fabulous

Last week the Duchess of Cambrigde, Catherine Middleton turned 30. As she nears her first wedding anniversary one could say she has confidently undertaken all her new royal responsibilities with style and grace.
I too am turning 30 in a few weeks time, and am also approaching my one year wedding anniversary. I may not be a duchess but feel I've ticked a few of life's boxes as I hit this mile stone. I look at Kate and admire her classic dressing. Maybe a touch too conservative for me but I believe she looks timeless and suits her role perfectly. I mean, was she not the most perfect princess bride?! I've noticed the way my own wardrobe has changed over the years, and perhaps becoming a mother has also influenced my choices. Somehow a pair of denim cut off shorts which seemed more than appropriate a couple of years ago are now only strict beach wear!
Kate gets her silhouettes, hem lines and colour palette right every time in a quintessential British fashion. Cheers to you Duchess for your continuing elegant style at any age...

Timeless winter dressing- looking stunning in a Burberrry trench.

A high neck dress in an understated colour- and that tiny belted waist!

Casual cool- a classic jeans and shirt combo.

Beyonce- Tribal Goddess in Sobral Jewellery

Only 5 sleeps to go! If you're like me then you are 90% organised... Food, tick. Drinks, tick. Presents, tick. The only thing left to work out is what to wear on the big day!
This year it seems we are finally getting a hot Australian Christmas and I for one, am thrilled. My breakfast BBQ will most definitely suit a balmy morning, followed by swimming in the pool with my daughter and her little cousins into the evening. So therefore something cool and casual is on the top of the list. I'm thinking of going for a simple palette with room to move (and to cover my tummy after eating all day!) and then adding colour with some funky accessories...

Luckily I've been introduced to Sobral Jewellery. Originating in Brasil, each piece is hand made by designer Carlos Sobral and his team in Rio de Janeiro. I love the variety in colour and styles, and the fact that no two pieces are exactly the same giving the jewellery a real 'arty' feel.
Celeb fans include the one and only Beyonce, who was decked out in a pair of bangles and chunky earrings from Sobral for her "Put It In A Love Song" film clip with Alicia Keys. Love her tribal funky style. I am hooked!
I'm thinking a stack of these bangles on my arm will be the perfect accessories to create some joy and Christmas cheer this weekend. Then bring on a long hot summer!

Sweet Scents for Christmas

I put my Christmas tree up this weekend. I can't stop staring at, and whats more, I cant stop smelling it. Freshly cut from the christmas tree farm, its divine scent of deep pine and all things christmas has taken over my house and its heavenly.
With Christmas now literally only two weeks away I am searching for those last few gifts (yes, I am super organised this year!) and have decided to use my nose. The right smell can trigger memories, occasions a mood or a place...
After browsing online I've come across the new Palm Beach home fragrance collection. I am a sucker for a good quality candle or diffuser and the Palm Beach range is just that, with a range of scents including Blood Orange, Fig Mandarin & Cassis, Lemongrass and Vintage Gardenia. Plus their packaging is beautiful, smart black boxes with simple yet elegant labels.

You can find the range online at www.ImpulseBoutique.com.au/PalmBeachCandles
Merry Christmas everyone!

I heart NYC

Just the other day one of my best friends ran the ING New York marathon. Once the hard work was out of the way she has been free to enjoy NYC and all it has to offer. Currently I am in a constant state of jealously as she relays her adventures to me...
Fortunately I am lucky enough to be heading state side myself early in the new year. Until then I will continue to dream of all the adventures that awaits!

Red Hot Pants on Fire

A summer trend I'm loving right now? Smoking hot, bright RED pants. Cropped, straight, leather or denim, the right pair of scarlett trousers adds instant pop to a casual or dressy outfit...

Demi Moore rocking her red legs on the red carpet...

Kate Bosworth- ridiculously hot! Love the red and nude colour combo...

Rachel Bilson looking very sweet with her floral blouse. I love the contrast print with those cheeky animal print heels... (that red & animal combo is a winner any day of the week.)

This look works on legs, long and short. The combination of wardrobe classics- a striped navy tee and long trench just oozes casual cool. Pop on a pair of killer heels and lose the coat and you'd be ready for wherever the night takes you!

I recently tried on a couple of pairs of red pants at Impulse... My picks? The M.E.L Tunisia Pant and the M.E.L Cropped Ghetto Pant in Chilli. Both in that perfect shade of red....

The Almalfi Stripe is back!!

We were quite excited to receive a call from Mela Purdie last week, when a very small run of the original Orange/ Black Amalfi Stripe became available. Of course we jumped on it straight away and are now loving being surrounded by maxi skirts and bold stripes once again...

Actress Kate Ritchie pictured in the Mid Double Skirt in the August issue of New Idea.

Bold stripes in bold colours 'inspired by Prada' as seen in the September issue of OK!
